Arrive at Paro International Airport — one of the world’s most dramatic descents between Himalayan peaks. Transfer to lodge. Evening walk along the Paro Chhu river. Orientation dinner with your guide.

Rinpung Dzong (16th-century fortress monastery). National Museum of Bhutan. Walk through Paro village and farmland. Drive to Drukgyel Dzong ruins at dusk — Himalayan panorama on clear evenings. Evening: introduction to GNH philosophy.

Drive to Thimphu (1.5 hrs). Visit GNH Commission headquarters — pre-arranged meeting with a policy advisor. Lunch with a local civil servant. Afternoon: Changangkha Lhakhang temple, prayer wheel circuit. Check in Thimphu.
Tashichho Dzong — seat of government. Buddha Dordenma (largest sitting Buddha in the world). National Textile Museum. Evening: arranged meeting with a Bhutanese entrepreneur. Traditional hot stone bath (dotsho).
Drive over Dochula Pass (3,100m) — 108 memorial chortens, mountain panorama. Arrive Punakha Dzong — “Palace of Great Happiness,” built 1637 at the confluence of two rivers. Walk through Punakha valley at dusk.
Morning hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten — hilltop temple with valley views. Visit Chimi Lhakhang (fertility temple, 15th century). Afternoon: guided conversation with a Buddhist monk on happiness as lived practice vs. government policy.
Return drive over Dochula Pass. Afternoon: free time in Paro — crafts, coffee, reflection. Closing dinner: founder roundtable — each traveller shares one thing they’re carrying home.
Optional morning blessing at a local monastery. Transfer to Paro airport. Departure.
